Who we help

Supporting patients when essential treatment becomes difficult to afford.
Spandana Heart Foundation supports eligible patients with serious cardiovascular and pulmonary vascular conditions who require essential medical treatment in the long term and may face financial difficulties in accessing or continuing their care.

1. Pulmonary Hypertension

  • Primary Pulmonary Hypertension
Patients with pulmonary hypertension occurring as a primary disease.
  • Pulmonary Hypertension Associated With Lung or Systemic Illness
Patients with pulmonary hypertension secondary to significant lung diseases or systemic illnesses.
  • Pulmonary Hypertension Associated With Congenital Heart Disease
Patients with pulmonary hypertension related to congenital heart disease, both cyanotic and acyanotic heart diseases.

2. Heart Failure
We support eligible patients with Heart failure due to any underlying cause:
Left heart failure
Right heart failure
Combined left and right heart failure

3. Advanced Heart Failure Requiring Palliative or End-of-Life Care
We recognise that advanced heart failure may reach a stage where the goals of care extend beyond disease-directed
treatment. Spandana Heart Foundation may support eligible patients requiring:

• Palliative care or End of life care: Symptom-focused treatment and Supportive care

4. Patients After Heart or Heart–Lung Transplantation
For transplant recipients, continued access to essential medicines is particularly important for maintaining the health of
the transplanted organ and supporting long-term care. We support eligible patients who have undergone:
• Heart transplantation
• Heart–lung transplantation
and who require ongoing immunosuppressive treatment and associated essential medical care

Who Is Eligible for Support?
Eligibility for assistance is determined on an individual basis.

Medical Need and Treatment Plan
The patient’s diagnosis, treatment requirements and medical necessity as recommended by the Treating Doctor / Hospital. We consider prescribed treatment and its expected duration, based on appropriate medical documentation.

Financial Need
The patient’s and family’s financial circumstances and their ability to meet the cost of essential treatment as assessed by the team of Spandana Heart Foundation.

Continuity of Care
The potential benefit of financial assistance in helping the patient continue essential treatment.
All requests for assistance are subject to the Foundation’s assessment and approval process

Our Commitment to Patients
We believe that every patient seeking help should be treated with dignity, empathy and respect.
Our purpose is not to replace the doctor–patient relationship or determine medical treatment.

Medical decisions remain with the treating healthcare team.
Our role is to help reduce the financial barrier that may prevent an eligible patient from accessing or continuing essential treatment.

If You or Someone You Know Needs Help
Patients can be referred for funding to Spandana Heart Foundation only by Treating Cardiologists or a Tertiary Care Cardiac Department in a hospital.

Our team can guide the referring doctors through the patient-support application and assessment process
